GRAFX CAD/CAM Starter Kit
Datacut offers the GRAFX CAD/CAM Starter Kit. The product concept was to develop an inexpensive product for people new to part programming. The Starter Kit illustrates principles found in many CAD/CAM systems and will provide benefits to new programmers no matter what system they ultimately use.
The system includes a full CAD system as well as CAM and related NC programming utilities. While the CAD system operates with full precision and can output normal drawings, the G-Code output is limited in decimal precision for clarity in educational environments for which the product has been developed. It is viable in an industrial setting to help understand the overall working of an integrated CAD/CAM system, and is especially beneficial in any type of formal educational setting.
The CAD/CAM Starter Kit is comprised of several components each organized to accomplish a specific task in a logical fashion. Components include a GRAFX CAD/CAM Starter Kit base manual, an ATP Companion manual, and three diskettes with the software. No software key is required and will even operate on an 80286 based system.
The base manual provides an easy to follow introduction into programming terminology and basics. This is continued in two separate step-by-step tutorials one each for mill and lathe. Both mill and lathe tutorials should be studied in that the basic programming techniques illustrated are valuable in any machining environment.
The ATP Companion is a compilation of 69 Advanced Tutorial Programs on disk with supporting documentation in the ATP Companion manual. Again they are arranged in a progressive manner, teaching programming concepts and building on the knowledge of the previous lessons. Mill and Lathe programs are both used to demonstrate concepts of increasing complexity and difficulty.
The ATPs provide an exceptional teaching
base for structured part programming educational situations. The GRAFX
CAD/CAM Starter Kit is priced where it can serve as course
work materials, relieving an educational institution of the need
to purchase multiple seats, and provide the student with a
valuable compilation of programming information for future use in
industry.
The ATP Companion programs cover a wide variety of topics
and subjects in general as well as fine detail including:
Contouring
Uniform Stock
Undercut Avoidance
Pocketing (Zig-Zag and Spiral)
Picking with windows
Tool files
Animation
Machining Parameters
